Example 2017 itinerary in the western Austrian Alps:

Day 1
We’ll meet your flight at Zurich, Switzerland airport and accompany you by rail (3 hours) east to Landeck, Austria where we transition to van for the drive (45 min) to Ischgl, Austria, a ski town high in the Tirol Alps (4,500 feet) and our first night’s lodging.

Day 2
We will ascend by lift to Palinkof 9,400 feet. We then descend to the next cable car to the summit of Piz Val Gronda, and the border with Switzerland, at 9,225’. We descend off piste to the southwest to our lodging at the Heidelberger hut 7,426 feet. In the event of poor weather we can ski in area and take a transfer snow taxi directly to the hut.

Day 3 & 4
After an early breakfast, we will tour up a small glacier to the Kronenjoch pass on the border with Switzerland. The Breite Krone ascent can be done before we descend to the Jamtal hut (7,100 feet). We will spend two days here and explore the area’s fantastic remote ski descents –  The Gemsspitz (10,191 feet) and / or the Hinter Jamspitz (10,191 feet).

Day 5
We will tour to Wiesbadener hut. We will cross from the Tirol to the Vorarlberg region today through some spectacular alpine scenery. The heart of the Silvretta region with possible ascents / descents of the Dreiländerspitze (10,486 feet) and Piz Buin (10,866) time permitting we can accomplish a tour up to the Fuorcla dal Cunfin or the Tirnderspitze (10,486 feet).

Day 6
We will ascend approximately 1,000 feet for our last day and then some great descending on the slopes of the Bieltaljoch and down the north face of the Bieltal (valley) with our destination of Wirl where we will transfer to our last night’s hotel lodging before the rail trip back to Zurich the following day.

Day 7
Breakfast and rail journey back to Zurich airport.

The complete tour is approximately 60 kilometers (with additional side touring optional) and will ascend and descend 15-20’000 feet (several of that by mechanical aid!) over the duration of the tour. The region, while remote, offers good access to lifts to accomplish the tour and plenty of “weather options” should conditions not be favorable. The beginning and end of the tour will be comfortable hotel lodging. The huts have access to showers and they are run by both the German and Austrian Alpine clubs – Good food, comfortable dorm style sleeping arrangements and much camaraderie each night.
Get off the beaten path!

Guided Hikes

Adventure shouldn’t be unattainable nor inaccessible.  For individuals or small groups looking to stay closer to home and interested in day tripping up into the White or Green Mountains of New England should look no further.  With over 20 years of experience playing in these mountains,  we can make this day as easy or as challenging as you like to meet your needs.  Whether it be the rugged 5,000+ footers of the Presidential Range, the powerful 8 mile Mount Lafayette loop, the steep and deep Tripyramids, or more mellow lake-front scenic hikes.  We will take you there and seal the deal with local knowledge, healthy fuel, and unforgettable eye candy.
